FAQ

During the lesson

Do I need a partner to join?

No! You can also register alone. You do not need a partner. In our classes, we provide a good mix of leaders and followers, using rotation and extra helpers to ensure the best possible balance.

The most important thing is that you feel comfortable! Wear comfortable clothes you can move in, the higher the level, the more you will sweat! Keep in mind that personal hygiene is also essential, so come to class with clean and fresh clothes. For Salsa and Bachata, trainers (indoor shoes) with smooth bottoms are best, so preferably no studs! It is also useful if you bring a bottle of water, we don't want you to get dehydrated, ow and bring a snack for after class, this is recommended.

Not for beginners. Trainers are fine, though useful if they have smooth soles, studs are not so nice and that they are not worn outside. As you progress, dance shoes or heels with suede soles are useful for turning and smoother movements.

Try to arrive 10 to 5 minutes before class starts. This will give you time to change your shoes, warm up and sign in.

If you are a few minutes late, you can still join. But please be respectful to the group and be mindful of disturbing the class, you might not be able to join until the first part of the class is over. This is because we do not have eyes on the door during our classes and for safety reasons we close the door to unwanted guests.

Yes! When you register, you can choose your preferred role: lead or follow. Would you like to try the other role later on? Let us know and we will look at the possibilities together. You cannot spontaneously switch roles during the lesson itself, as this may cause confusion and disrupt the lesson structure. We want to make sure that everyone can participate in a pleasant and clear way.

Not at all. Everyone is welcome to lead or follow, regardless of gender identity. We support an inclusive community.

It depends on the course. Many courses are taught by a permanent teacher, but some are taught by several teachers or have occasional substitutes. We always ensure quality and consistency.

Yes, friends are of course always welcome to try a class. Just make sure they register in advance for a Try-out, this is only not possible in lessons 3 to 8 of Level 1 this disrupts the lesson too much.

timetable and seasons

When is the next course?

When can you start a course?

Beginning dancers (levels 1 to 3):
We start six times a year with a new 8-week course especially for beginners. These start in:
January, March, May, July, September and November.
Classes usually start in the first week of the month.

Experienced dancers (from level 4):
Do you already have dance experience? Then you can join throughout the year. We will be happy to see which level suits you and which group you can join.

🔍 Check our schedule for the exact start dates. Is it not there yet? Then we are still working on the schedule behind the scenes.
📩 Take contact at or view our timetable for more information.

Lesson times vary depending on style and level. Via the timetable you can see which class will be held at what time and if it is! When you register, you will receive a confirmation e-mail, please check your spam box. Most classes take place in the evening, any individual workshops in addition to the regular class schedule may take place elsewhere during the day or at the weekend.

Most classes last 90 minutes, solo classes may last 60 minutes as these tend to be more intense, all this includes warm-up and cool-down. Sometimes workshops or intensive courses can last longer.

Each course lasts 8 weeks, with one lesson per week. You can stay at the same level for as long as you like, or move up to a higher level when you are ready. Some seasons may differ from the regular 8 weeks, keep an eye on the class schedule for this.

Absolutely! Many students take multiple classes. You can combine styles or levels. We created our subscriptions especially for this, there is no school in Amsterdam that gives 50% discounts on the second course or even more if you choose the unlimited subscription. For questions about our subscriptions feel free to contact 0642298137 via Whatsapp or just a call!

If you have a strippenkaart or season ticket and you have missed your lesson, you can choose another lesson or the same lesson (if possible) within the same week and register for it via the Bueno student app. Catch-up lessons are only not possible for Full course tickets and are non-refundable. If you have bought a single ticket such as a Try-Out please contact 0642298137 via Whatsapp or just a call.

In many cases, yes! From level 3 onwards, you can always join mid-season (not if you are a beginner) and there is space, you can even join after the start of the course. We will be happy to help you find the right group. Just get in touch with us.

If we have to cancel a class (due to illness, circumstances, etc.), we will notify you via email, the Bueno app and WhatsApp. The class will be rescheduled if possible.

We basically have no breaks during national holidays (except King's Day) to avoid schedule complications, there may be exceptions but the Bueno student app is your handbook to check if there is a class or not. We do have winter and summer breaks. You will be informed of these well in advance!

Is a group full? Then you will automatically be placed on the waiting list. Don't worry, it is rare that no place becomes available!
At Salsa District, we work with a balance system between leaders and followers, ensuring balanced groups every season.
Are you on the waiting list? You will be notified automatically as soon as a place becomes available. Do not wait too long to apply: we apply the 'first come, first served' principle. Do you have any questions or want to discuss? Feel free to contact 0642298137 via WhatsApp or just give us a call. We are happy to think along with you.

PS: Check if there is a Level 1 group on another day, if so, it is useful to see if you can register for this, provided it fits your schedule of course.

Bueno is the app we use to manage all administration such as online registration and cancellations, so we have overview and guaranteed safe environment! Download the app for free from the App Store or Google Play and log in with the email address you used to sign up.

Subscriptions

How does a subscription work?

The subscription works quite simply, after you register you are automatically registered for the first season (8weeks), then with the next season it is convenient if you register at least two weeks in advance for the next season. We have different subscriptions with different credits per week (1 credit is 1 class), you can only use these credits in the same week and cannot be used in subsequent weeks.

You can register via our website at the timetable page or via the Bueno Student app. Choose your level, dance style and preferred day. If you are not sure about your level, feel free to contact us.

The subscription it several advantages:
- You have different financial benefits per subscription type
- You can switch classes in the same week
- At 2 credits, you save 50% on your second course
- At Unlimited, you save 75% or more on your 3rd course
- You can pause your subscription, so if you go on holiday or are unable to attend for other reasons you won't lose credits

With a subscription you can quickly save a lot depending on the subscription, the advantage with a 1 credit subscription compared to a Full course can reach €335.50.- You can save even more if you go for a 2 credits or an unlimited subscription. For more info contact 0642298137 by Whatsapp or a call!

No problem we got you! You can pause your subscription for up to 4 weeks in the 6 months. Contact us via WhatsApp for this.

Yes. Every new season (season is 8 weeks) you have to sign up again for the class you want to participate in, even if you already have a subscription. You will see your own active products (Subscription) as soon as you sign up via the class schedule on our website or via the Buenp student app, and you can then sign up with this.

Our subscriptions are already priced so competitively that we do not offer discounts on our subscriptions.

Payments are handled securely via PAY and this party works with an official SEPA contract, all this again via Bueno. Once you have registered online, you will receive a payment request the first time and automatically agree. Subscriptions are then automatically debited monthly from your preferred bank account.

We do not offer refunds for missed classes, but if you have a subscription, you can take another class in the same week unless the classes are not already fully booked.

A subscription is concluded for a fixed term of six or 12 months. At the end of the fixed term, the subscription is automatically renewed indefinitely, unless it is cancelled in accordance with the conditions below. The subscription can only be cancelled in writing and not before the agreed term has expired. The cancellation becomes effective 30 days after the cancellation request is received. After cancelling the subscription in writing, the holder is entitled to participate in all classes offered via the Bueno student app in the regular weekly schedule until the subscription is actually stopped. Any workshops outside the regular schedule or, for example, Rueda classes (due to balance restrictions or specific restrictions imposed by Salsa District) may be prohibited by Salsa District.

No, all payments are made through the Bueno system for clarity and security. We do not accept cash payments in the studio.
